Tag/Day 1.7 auf der/on QUEEN ELIZABETH in Southampton, England

 border=0

In die Show zieht es uns nicht. Wir gehen ein wenig durchs Schiff. Hier sind also meine Hauptansprechpartner.

We were not so much interested to see the show. So we browsed through the ship. So they are my major contacts.

The string quartet was very good.

We went to the Commodore Club. You can feel that the level was much more higher. Even you get canapé with your orders.

I came a little later because I need to see the front desk. So with my arrival it was a bad timing. I saw that one menu had no non-alcohol beverages inside. After 15 minutes I got a menu which also had all non-alcohol beverages. But nobody showed up to take the order. After another 15 minutes I was able to attract the attention of a waiter and I was told that they were all on break. Should I see the Public Room Manager and ask him why I as guest need to follow the schedule of the crew to get something to drink? Unbelievable that I was with Cunard. I grant the breaks for the crew. But if I have to wait 30 minutes before I can place the order than something went wrong and was not organised properly.

Hans-Hermann and Bruno had luck and arrived when they had 4-6 waiters around.

Hans-Hermann tried to explain the difference between (American) Ginger Ale, (English) Ginger Ale (alhoholic) and Ginger Beer (alcohol-free). So I tried a Ginger Beer.

I could stay away as the two guys were talking now for 12 hours about the camera. All the time they try new functions and changed the settings and I should work with it later as non-professional and should remember how to use the settings.

At a certain time I gave up and returned to my cabin.

But somehow they impressed me with their talk and I was asking myself how you can take pictures of the strange bowl using the full-automatic mode without having this reflection.

In the cabin our steward separated the beds.

We got the daily programmes in two languages and some chocolate. It is today no matter of course anymore. Only the water was missing we asked for.

We should adjust our watches.

One face towel was missing, my notice was still there and it became colder in the bathroom. I was not sure if I dare to walk in the next morning.

The floor became more icy. I called the front desk. A technician came who offered us to seal the air outlet: but where should the humidity go next morning from the shower? No alternatives. The supervisor came and claimed that I called the front desk to speak with her.

She was someone who spoke someone to death. Like me. So we spoke until we were tired and then we started to work on the problem. As the coldness came from the tiles we got some more floor towels to isolate the floor and the missing face towel and one more just in case one more would be missed.

From one moment to the next it became a little nicer and you can feel less cold air from the bottom. So I accepted to solve the water problem the next day although they took away already our champagne. Others might be very happy to get a champagne-gift. But we requested already with our booking that we would more than happy to have a bottle of water instead which we got without any problems on QUEEN MARY 2. It is cheaper for Cunard and it would be gift which make us happy.

To stay mobile I booked an Internet-Pass. Close to the shore or ashore I use the passes of my German home carrier. That was enough exitement for the first day. All our problems were more individual as we do not drink alcohol so we were more interested to get our problems solved than other guests.
